4 ways TikTok could be harmful to you.
I have come to the conclusion that what is a blessing to one could also come to serve as a curse. This is similar to the reality that words can be read with implied or literary meanings.

What ciphers call "metaphors" I bet you got the hang of that already. It's like asking if the internet has been a blessing or a curse to the global populace. These things are just relative.

In this post, I will be doing more than giving basic information on one of the new social media sensation applications called TikTok, which has been considered a trend for leisure and pastime by both individuals and corporate brands.

At the end of this post, you will understand 4 ways the TikTok application has been harmful to you as an app user.

The Watchtower, a web design agency in Dubai, is a leading name in the business of web design and development in Dubai.

The popular social networking app has received a lot of negative press, so why is TikTok considered risky for your privacy? Below are some key pointers we identified after observing the application.

Four ways TikTok could be harmful to you

1.TikTok collects your data.
People should note that TikTok had earlier stated in its privacy policy that it collects information provided in the context of composing, sending, or receiving messages using the platform.

TikTok’s pursuit of data collection doesn’t stop at the type of content you like and share on the app alone.

TikTok uses the access permission the user gives by collecting phone information like model, operating system [OS], screen resolution, phone number, phone contact, email address, and location.

What is TikTok but a data collection platform?

2. Facial recognition
The TikTok application is an engaging app that goes beyond just the consumers; the active content creators are eagerly and diligently churning out multiple videos that reveal not just their information, but also their faces.

While this may not be considered a risk or a thing to worry about, considering the emerging technologies like Deep Fake technology, which can imitate facial recognition and can be used for possible fraudulent activity.

This alone is a worthy need for reconsideration by active TikTok-ers.

3. Digital Footprints
People need to remember that their digital footprint may be a thing of concern since it poses risks such as being more prone to phishing attacks and cyberstalking.

Maybe for digital creators, it may be considered a lead that helps boost their social media presence, but if you have to consider it from the angle of sensitive jobs in the future, the active user might have leaked all personal information on the digital space.

4.Security and hacks
In place of extra comfort, there is a need for an extra watch, and this social media app is a major concern for security and vulnerable hacks.
In recent years, researchers in security have discovered numerous security flaws in TikTok, which is a major reason to worry.

The app also became a preferred path for many hackers because of its access to a lot of personal data.

One of the avenues to this is hackers' sending consumers a text message with a link to their accounts. One method hackers take advantage of is TikTok.

Another involves taking advantage of the fact that TikTok delivers movies over an insecure HTTP connection as opposed to HTTPS [Hyper Text Transfer Protocol Secure], which is a more secure method.

Through the manipulation of user feeds, fraudsters can insert unwanted content that may be upsetting or deceptive, especially for young TikTok viewers, and this helps perpetuate their illicit acts.

In conclusion, TikTok is a social media app enjoying a good buzz as it has been confirmed as a target-driven app for online creators and business brands.

However, while this is a worthy feat to cheer on, the underpinning security and privacy should not be eroded by active users.
