How to Create Interesting Social Media Videos Series 2

How to Create Interesting Social Media Videos Series 2
Social media videos are not only the rave of the moment; they are now also the norm in making your individual or corporate presence felt on them. Statistics show that the use of social media videos on platforms like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc has increased by more than 70 percent in the last year; while viewership of social media videos in the same period has also increased by more than 80 percent.

Individual and corporate organizations who use social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter know that one of the surest ways for them to garner a large following is by incorporating videos into their feeds. After all, people are likely going to remember more what they see than what they hear or read about.

In our first series on this topic, we highlighted some of the key steps we can take to ensure that we create engaging short social media videos. In this series, we conclude the review of those steps by looking at the most practical aspect of it all: Recording and Editing.

7: Record
Recording your video should be the fun part of your video-making process. It is the time you get to execute all the ideas and plans you have been working on.

With the benefits of advancement in technology, you can produce engaging, high-quality videos all on your own with just a few simple tools and tricks. Here are all you will need to do to achieve that:

Use your smartphone
While this may sound unbelievable because of the assumptions we have about what is required to make videos; still, you really don’t need expensive video equipment to get started. One of the most important pieces of video equipment you need is right in your pocket: your smartphone!

Most smartphones today are technologically advanced enough to be able to record videos of high visual and audio quality, and also come with many video-editing mobile apps that can help you create what you want to make for your viewers.

Stabilize your phone with a tripod
One of the major turn off for most viewers of social media videos is unstable pictures. This is only second to poor audio quality. A video with steady pictures makes it look more like the work of a professional. To be able to get very stable video quality, use a tripod to steady your smartphone when shooting. There are a lot of affordable tripods from Amazon that should serve the purpose without making you groan financially.

Speak into a microphone
Like we mentioned in the point above; the number of a turn-off for viewers of social media videos is poor audio quality. Why making videos without sound may be an option as we mentioned in the first part of this series; knowing that a video was created with sound originally doesn’t help when such sound quality is very poor.

It is best to find a quiet location where you can record your video without background noise. If you have to record in a busy and noisy location, it will help to improve the sound quality by getting a lavalier microphone which you can just plug into your phone and hit record.

Find good lighting
I think by now, this advice should have sunk in really well. You should use natural light for as long as it is possible. Natural light is the best light source for your videos. If you can't get that, then you can work with artificial light sources too. Just make sure that when recording your video, you face the light source so that the light spreads evenly across your face, or you use light-diffusing equipment if you have any.

Find or create your video background
Finally, for the production process, find a simple background that provides you with a great option for recording your video. A simple colored background encourages viewers to focus their attention on you and prevents them from being distracted by things that may be going on in the background.

You can create a suitable background for your shoot if you can’t find one that meets your purpose. There are all kinds of filming equipment available on Amazon and some other online stores on a budget.

8: Edit
After doing awesome work in recording your video clips; you should take a good look at it in post-production and see which parts of the recording might need some tweaking and edit them out or enhance them as may be required.

9: Share
You are done with pre-production, production, and post-production processes? Then what are you waiting for? Go ahead and share your video and let the public enjoy your artistry!

I hope this series will help you get on the move to making videos for social media.
