What is Plastisol Printing?

Plastisol printing is frequently employed both as a coating and as a textile ink for screen printing. They are the most often used inks for printing designs on t-shirts and other types of garments, and they work especially well for producing opaque graphics on dark materials.

Plastisol inks are recommended for printing on colored fabric since they can keep a vivid picture for many years with suitable maintenance. Most plastisols require heating to a temperature of about 180 degrees Celsius (350 degrees Fahrenheit) to fully cure.

Plastisol printing typically leaves a raised, plasticized texture since it doesn't sink into the threads as much as it should.

What makes plastisol printing unique?

1. They do not air dry.
Unlike how the majority of the printing process goes, Plastisol ink does not air dry in the mesh stencil used for screen printing, compared to conventional water-based inks. Because the ink lacks solvents, it does not harden when moisture evaporation occurs.

The perks of this meant that they were immediately able to produce additional copies of their work without needing to clean or change the stencil when this ink entered the market. In the long term, the devices themselves were also safer because of this.

2. Plastisol ink enables enhancements
Plastisol ink is an excellent option if you want to make a distinctive design by including elements like glitter or glow-in-the-dark ink. Many different ingredients blend well with plastisol ink. For instance, one can add ingredients to the mixture that will make the design appear more reflective or have a greater gloss when printed.

As already indicated, some mesh screens may have problems with the thick ink, but plastisol is simple to dilute with a remedial reducer without hurting the color vibrancy.

3. It is a safe choice for printing.
It's important to constantly abide by the safety guidelines related to each type of ink.

For example, plastisol ink is often quite simple to use, without any risk of damage or damaging effects on the environment. The ink remains at a low temperature during the curing procedure.

Additionally, the ink normally does not include harmful chemical components.

4. Plastisol has little or no waste effect.
Considering the green economy that we all look forward to having, the residual ink that is not utilized in a particular product can be put back in its container and used again in the future because the ink does not lose its viscosity.

This helps the designer save money while enhancing the product's benefits for the environment. Plastisol ink can be easily thinned down for simpler use if the thickness of the ink causes the mesh to clog without compromising the brilliance of the color.

Now that you have learned something new today, you can consider plastisol printing for future jobs and consultations.
