Are the rains here already in the UAE?
The UAE [United Arab Emirates] has been known for its two distinct weather seasons, the Winter and the Summer. Considering the UAE been known for its harsh weather conditions, owning the vast of the year to extreme heat which usually spans between April down to September. And the latter part of the year has Winter take its toll with rainfall which has its share of reign till March.

Giving to global warming, we have seen climate seasons change, and the meteorological forecast appears unprofessional since their forecast does not corroborate with what the weather ends up showing going by seasons.

The monsoon season is another name given to the rainy season. A beautiful time to enjoy your stay in the UAE, since it’s a time to unwind from the heat, and sample perhaps a different outfit, sports, meals, and other chain reactions.

Now that we have started the new year, and January is barely two days old, it is easy to say that winter is here, little wonder why you have been experiencing showers of rain all around the UAE.

Let's get it right, the rains are here already in the UAE, and this is no surprise. What could have been a surprise would have been not getting a dose of rainfall between November and March.

Since these are no surprises, what has been shown as a surprise is a flood. There have been reports of heavy rainfall in the better part of the UAE, and Dubai is not left out from this pool.

Should we expect more rains in the UAE?
The month of January has been known to have a constant dose of rainfall, usually about 10mm, while a total of 100mm in total for the Emirates in the year.

However, there have been warnings about rainy convective clouds over scattered areas in the north, east, and coast, according to the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) This has been followed by blowing of dust and fresh wind.

Are there reasons to experience flood?
According to a forecaster at NCM, more rain is expected to sweep into the UAE from the Arabian Gulf in the coming days.

Another weather system is expected to approach the UAE from the north, causing more rains than before. This would bring even more rain than the band which swept through the country overnight that could affect almost the entire country in scattered areas.

But still, we have a good chance of seeing more rain in the coming days over a scattered area because of this trough.

It has been said by residents in Abu Dhabi that they had never seen rain like it, having houses entirely flooded, as the weather triggered fire alarms and scattered household valuables.

What can be done for safety during the flood?
As cases of torrential rainfall keep rising in different Emirates, residents have been laden with the task to look out for themselves.

While remaining alert, demonstrating security measures for themselves and their valuables necessitates a few procedures, including possible evacuation routes, shelter arrangements, and practised flash flood responses. Certificates, paintings, and other important documents should be kept in a waterproof container.

While psychological measures are set in place, it is best advised that tangible things as nonperishable meals, cleaning materials, and essential water for several days are carefully stashed if there is a need to leave your apartment at an odd hour or if your area's power services cut out.
