Can You Refill a Geek Bar? And Why You Shouldn't!

blog-image Webmaster

You’ve been using your Geek Bar for a while, and you’re starting to notice the dreaded thin, plasticky taste that lets you know you’re coming to the end of your e-liquid supply. Pretty soon, you’re going to need to buy a new vape – or will you? Can you refill a Geek Bar and just keep on using it?

The good news is that you can open and refill a Geek Bar, and some people do exactly that in order to save a little money and keep their devices going as long as possible. The bad news is that trying to refill your Geek Bar probably isn’t worth the trouble for reasons we’ll explain in this guide. As an added bonus, we’ll also tell you how long a Geek Bar lasts and what you can do to make your vapes last even longer.

How to Refill a Geek Bar

To refill a Geek Bar, you need a pair of vise grips and a bottle of e-liquid. You may also find a blunt-tip syringe helpful for dispensing the vape juice. These steps apply to the popular Geek Bar Pulse; the refilling method may differ for other Geek Bar models.

  • Tighten the vise grips around the Geek Bar’s mouthpiece. Since the mouthpiece has a soft coating and a sloping shape, you’ll need to make sure that you have a very good grip.

  • Wiggle the mouthpiece gently while pulling it up. The mouthpiece should pop off, revealing the e-liquid tank underneath.

  • Add e-liquid slowly to the soft wicking material inside the tank. This is where a blunt-tip syringe can come in handy. Your goal is to get the e-liquid deep inside the tank, which is hard to do when you’re simply dripping the vape juice from a bottle. Dispense the e-liquid very gradually. If you try to do it too quickly, the tank will overflow. When the wicking material looks very wet, you’re done.

  • Replace the mouthpiece and get back to vaping.

It’s also possible to disassemble a Geek Bar by using a thin tool such as a butterknife to pry off the screen’s clear plastic cover. After you do this, the device’s electronics can slide out. You’ll have to push the switch on the bottom of the vape to release the internal components. Although this method gives you better access to the e-liquid tank, it’s also more difficult to do. We think that going through the mouthpiece is the better method.

Why Refilling a Geek Bar Isn’t Worth the Trouble

Now that we’ve explained how to refill a Geek Bar, we’re going to tell you why you probably don’t want to unless you’re really desperate to keep your device going.

  • A Geek Bar isn’t meant to be opened by the end user, and it’s quite possible that you could inadvertently damage the device.

  • The flavor of your Geek Bar won’t be the same as it was when the device was new. That’s partly because you don’t have authentic Geek Bar e-liquid and partly because of the sucralose in the vape juice, which causes a burnt-tasting residue to form on a vape coil. Since you can’t replace the coil in your Geek Bar, you’ll definitely start to taste the residue at some point.

  • Refilling a Geek Bar is much more difficult than refilling a vape that’s designed to be reusable, which only takes a few seconds.

If you enjoy disposable vapes for their convenience, you should be prepared to buy a new device every several days. If you want a vape that you can reuse, on the other hand, you should buy a device that’s designed to be refillable.

How Long Does a Geek Bar Last?

Modern Geek Bar vapes are advertised to last up to 15,000 puffs (Geek Bar Pulse) or up to 25,000 puffs (Geek Bar Pulse X and Geek Bar Skyview/Digiflavor Sky). Before you get too excited about that, though, you should know that disposable vape brands have been known to exaggerate a bit when it comes to puff counts. You’re not likely to get anywhere near 15,000 puffs out of your device unless your average puff is a half second or shorter.

One of the reasons why you’re probably here, in fact, is because your Geek Bar didn’t last as long as you expected it to. Even with the exaggeration, though, you should definitely be able to use a Geek Bar for several days or potentially even more than a week. Don’t forget that all modern Geek Bars have screens to let you know when you’re on the verge of running out. When the meter says that your device is empty, you need to get ready to buy a new Geek Bar very soon.

How to Make a Geek Bar Last Longer

What if you find that your Geek Bars don’t last anywhere near a week? Maybe you’re here because you’re replacing your devices every few days, and that doesn’t seem long enough to you. Is there any way to make a Geek Bar last longer? Mostly, it comes down to the way you vape.

  • Are you sure that you’re only using your Geek Bar when you actually need the nicotine, or are you using it to pass the time and keep yourself busy? Remember that a Geek Bar has nicotine delivery similar to that of a cigarette on a puff-for-puff basis, so you don’t want to hit it constantly all day long.

  • If you have difficulty managing your vaping on your own, try putting your Geek Bar across the room. This ensures that the device won’t always be next to you and available, which might help you exercise a bit more self-restraint when it comes to vaping.

  • You could also try using a pen and paper to track your daily puffs. Try setting a goal of around 200-300 puffs per day. A cigarette typically lasts about 10-15 puffs, and there are 20 cigarettes in a pack. Therefore, with 200-300 puffs per day, you can be sure that your nicotine intake is about comparable to that of a pack-a-day smoker.
